Beta version of the Heller Lab website

August 30th, 2007 by andrew stein

I just finished the beta version of the Heller Lab website. Professor H. Craig Heller is a professor at Stanford University and teaches courses in both the Biological Sciences and Human Biology departments. In this lab during the school year, I help research variabilities in human core temperature and how this relates to exercise physiology. Other distinct parts of this lab consist of the work done on circadian rhythms, sleep, and hibernation. Eventually, this site will serve as a place to go when you have questions about what goes on in the Heller Lab; however, currently, the site is lacking much of its text and content. For a sneak peak of the site, click on the screenshot below.

Stay tuned for the completion of this site.

Friends, beach, sun, BBQ, bonfires, frisbee, and dolphins

August 26th, 2007 by andrew stein

We just finished a great weekend at the beach. Somehow, it was both relaxing and packed full. The photo below at the camp fire is not doctored at all. The fire was almost as tall as we were and was creating massive heat–in other words, shirts were optional. And in fact, soon after this photo, we all decided to go for a little swim in the Pacific.

Bonfire on the Beach

The night winded down next to this fire after the flames calmed down a little. We all passed out from the full day and slept very comfortably on towels next to the bonfire for a couple hours before leaving the sand.

Mozilla ended a great week by preparing a delicious dinner including spring rolls, crab cakes, sushi, hand-made tacos, pecan pie, and much more. Top 10 things to make a great bonfire

August 13th, 2007 by andrew stein

Last weekend was spent in Santa Barbara, and we tested our hands at making a bonfire one of the nights. Although we did not necessarily hit all ten things listed below in our bonfire, we came close. Click on the image below to check out some pics of the fire. Here are the things we thought every camp fire should have:

Bonfire in Santa Barbara

10. A pyromaniac (even if only a closet pyromaniac)

9. Sand to cover glowing embers

8. Guitar

7. A new moon

6. Lightly decorated, self-made fire pit

5. Drift wood

4. Beach

3. Graham crackers, Hershey bars, and marshmallows

2. Good friends and/or family

1. A spark

Mozilla goes to the ball game

August 11th, 2007 by andrew stein

On Thursday, Mozilla went to AT&T Park in San Francisco to watch the Giants play some baseball. Starting with a tailgate directly outside the ballpark, the day stayed warm and sunny throughout–a feat that San Francisco cannot always claim. Although the Giants didn’t win and Barry didn’t get number 758, it wasn’t only the game that brought everybody to AT&T Park. It was just the whole atmosphere of the stadium, friends, hot dogs, and drinks that made the day what it was. To see more pics, click the image below.

Mozilla interns come together for summer MoCo BBQ!

August 9th, 2007 by andrew stein

What a day! From interns cooking, interns serving full-timers, Fligtar taking orders on his iPhone, to everyone enjoying burgers, hot dogs, corn, cookies, chips, and more, MoCo came together at the interns’ apartments in Mountain View.

MoCo Intern BBQ!

Rhian Baker, one of the many full-timers who came and enjoyed this event, reported, “This is one of the best parties I’ve been to in a while!” Other full-timers may have felt differently, especially the select few who were honored by being thrown into the pool. Although, what those full-timers need to realize is that being thrown into the pool is really only a sign of great respect. Such adventures are well documented in the pictures, which can be found by clicking the image above.

Fun weekend with Mom and Dad in Santa Barbara

August 7th, 2007 by andrew stein

I decided that it was time for a change of pace last weekend, and decided to venture down to Santa Barbara, where I met up with my parents. Click on the image below for more pictures.

Santa Barbara beach scene

It was a very relaxing weekend, which included enjoying the sun on the beach, exploring a city-wide fiesta, renting a movie, going out to dinner, and most importantly celebrating my Dad’s birthday. And as of late, I haven’t gone anywhere without my camera, and this trend did not change on this trip.

Pajama party is successful at Black Hat

August 3rd, 2007 by andrew stein

Mozilla’s suite in the Augustus Tower at Caesar’s Palace was the place to be last Wednesday night. Many Black Hat conference-goers showed up at Mozilla’s Pajama Party looking for a place to relax and enjoy fun conversation with each other. Who knew so many people would be looking for some milk, cookies, and hot chocolate one late night in Las Vegas? Click on the image below for more pictures.
